When and Where?

Emergency Management

Committee for Emergency Management

Disasters can happen at any time, and St. Paul’s UCC in
Crystal Lake, Illinois wanted to be prepared to help our
church and community.  We formed the Committee for
Emergency Management, with the goal of creating a
written plan, upgrading the safety of our church facility
and educating our congregation on emergency
preparedness.

With the guidance of the Crystal Lake Fire Department,
we made our building safer by installing new fire extinguishers,
CO detectors, 911 phones, first aid kits, fire proof safes and a
weather radio. To educate our congregation, we gave each
family emergency preparedness documents from the
Department of Homeland Security and other local agencies.

We also provided CPR, first aid, fire extinguisher, and spiritual
well-being training to our congregation. St. Paul’s has fostered
partnerships with a local school and churches to share buildings
in case of emergencies. Our preparedness can hopefully help the
community be prepared.
